Interesting. I put a review in yelp about a year and a half ago and it disappeared. I wonder why this happens !! Let me repeat it again. I owned a house as a single man and I was planning to get married soon after I talked to Mr. Teter. My property taxes were 2000 per year that were tied into prop 13. I asked Mr Teter if I sold 1/2 my house to my future wife (she wasn't yet my wife at the time), would my property taxes go up?.. He told me don't worry, nothing will change. Hence I sold 1/2 of my house to my future wife, got married and immediately got a tax bill for 6000 dollars. Thanks Mr. Teter. You really know your property tax law!!!

Updated review. Yelp didn't post my original. Milked me for hours on end, and never...ever provided any valuable information. Took my money as fast as possible and dragged out a tax audit. I dumped John in the middle and my new Attorney found $350,000 in deductions John never looked into. Why because John doesn't care about his client- he cares about billing you. Totally sucks and put my life in jeopardy.

I used John Teter for an income tax audit. Just as other here reported he milked me for as long as possible and did absolutely nothing to resolve my case. After Thousands in legal fees and again NOTHING accomplished I dumped him. My next attorney found $350,000 in deductions that John never even bothered to look into- why because he is just there to take your money and not help you.

John solved my tax issues. He is extremely knowledgeable and saved us from a mistake that the IRS made.

I needed legal help with a tax situation I found myself in a few years ago. I came to John and he explained everything to me in plain English and explained what needed to be done. I was initially overwhelmed with the amount of work I had to do, but he walked me through the entire process and communicated with the IRS on my behalf. Extremely thorough and organized. If you have questions regarding OVDI or FBAR, he's your man!

Thanks Mr Teter for really knowing nothing about property tax laws , especially in your own county, Santa Clara county. My future wife and I went to see Mr. Teter over a year ago before we got married. We asked him specifically if there were any tax implications if I sold 1/2 my house to my future wife. He of course said no and don't worry. However when I got my tax bill recently after our marriage this year, my property taxes went up from 2800 to over 5000 dollars per year. Great Job Mr Teter !!!! Go back to property tax school !!!!

John (and Cici) make a great team together! I consulted their law offices for matters related to foreign taxation and had an amazing experience over the 12 months or so I interacted with them. Considerate, knowledgeable, communicative and mindful of not racking up any extra costs while still providing solid execution and expert guidance on how/when and why to file. John (and Cici) genuinely care about their clients and they will definitely be on the top of my list when it comes to any legal matters pertaining to taxation.

Had a conference with John Teter in 2009 for him to look over my short sale paperwork. He charge a fee of over $550 just to read them. The bank has since come after me for the deficiency balance. Go back to law school Mr. Teter!

Went to get legal information on Short Sales, and he was not very clear in terms of what folks are liable for. He was long winded, and intentionally prolonged the conversation with useless stories and information. I value time and money, he clearly had no regard for either except to line his own pockets. If you need Short Sale advice please email mpeterman@century21champion.com.

Hands down amazing amazing amazing. You might feel that this office is old-school and he looks a bit like a wiry Dumbledore out of Harry Potter but you know what ... old-school is the way to go with crazy stuff like tax law and IRS chasing after your tail. You want to get it right and you want to know your stuff and John Teter is just the guy for the job. He's been practicing tax law exclusively for over 20 years. He works very well with Edward Chiang, CPA, who's one of the best I've worked with. He's straight up and he will absolutely consider what's best for his clients. He saved my family tons of money (enough to send a kid to college for a year) and protected our files and assets. He fought our financial institute that messed up our forms. We just consider him a godsend. He's also a family man. He and his wife work together at the office so they're both very receptive to the importance of protecting your family assets.
